About Guelaguetza

90 years of the maximum Oaxacan party. The Guelaguetza is the most important ethnic folk festival in America. In this expression of multiculturalism, the 8 regions and 16 ethnic groups of the beautiful state of Oaxaca gather in brotherhood to celebrate the corn goddess Centéotl.

On Lunes de Cerro, the Isthmus, the Sierra Norte, the Sierra Sur, the Central Valleys, the Mixteca, the Coast, the Papaloapan Basin and the Cañada meet to offer Centéotl their dances, music, culture, gastronomy and traditions. The Oaxacan people share their Fiesta with tourists who come from all over the world and pack the Guelaguetza Auditorium.

Although the maximum attraction is the Mondays of the Hill, the entire month of July is the month of the Guelaguetza, filling the streets of the Historical Downtown of Oaxaca with celebrations, dances and music. In addition, the hosts show their hospitality with traditional treats by distributing flowers and bread among the attendees, and if you are lucky, even a few mezcal kisses can touch you.

Tickets are sold at the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Oaxaca (Av. Juárez No. 703, Centro, from 9 am to 5 pm) and at the Auditorio Guelaguetza ticket office.

Areas C and D of the Auditorium correspond to free access, for which you must train on the day of the event. We recommend you arrive a few hours before so that you can reach a place, remember that the demand is high.

Being an event that everyone wants to attend, we suggest you plan your trip and book your Hotel in advance.
