About Hierve El Agua
Place of famous petrified waterfalls that were formed thousands of years ago by the runoff of water with high mineral content. In the area there are also vestiges of an irrigation system built by the Zapotecs about 2,500 years ago. Not only that, the place is now a natural spa where you can enjoy pools and natural pools with mild carbonated waters from where you can admire these wonderful petrified waterfalls.
How to get
Hierve el Agua is located next to the town Roaguía, approximately 70 km (43 miles) from the city of Oaxaca.
By car:
Take Federal Highway No. 190 towards the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, arrive at the main Mitla cruise and continue along the Oaxaca - Istmo highway section, 21 km away, take the deviation to the right towards San Lorenzo Albarradas - Hierve El Agua ( it is a section in dirt road of 4.7 miles)
By bus:
You can take a bus from the Fletes and Pasajes line that departs from the Second Class Terminal, which offers daily departures from 8:00 hrs, with an approximate journey of 2 hrs.
You can also get to Mitla and from there take vans that charge $ 5 usd for round trip people, maximum capacity 15 people.
