Description Lacan-Tun
The region where is located this reserve is also known as the Lacandon Jungle. This forest, together with the Biosphere Reserve Montes Azules, are part of the region known as the highest biodiversity in Northern Mesoamerica, considered a priority conservation area in Mexico because that protects the habitat of endangered endemic as the tapir, river otter, jaguar, ocelot, ocelot, opossum woolly spider monkey, sarahuato, hummingbirds, scarlet macaw, harpy eagle, crested guan, toucan necklace, royal toucan, crocodile swamp, alligator and turtle river.
