West Coast of Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc

These national parks are part of the barrier reef called Great Belt Western Atlantic Reef, also known as Great Mayan Reef, considered the second largest barrier reef in the world. The Nizuc tip reef formation extends south to the boundary of the National Park Arrecife de Puerto Morelos, and 30 km west of Isla Mujeres reef, lies the Parque Nacional Isla Contoy.
