About Lagunas de Montebello (Lagoons)

This National Park comprises more than 50 small lakes surrounded by forests of pines and oaks. The colors of the water are spectacular and are due to minerals, vegetation and the way the sun shines.
You can traverse through two paths that take you to different lakes and surrounding find the necessary services to enjoy the day; or even cabins and camping areas if you opt for the night.

Tours

You can take the tour to visit the Lagunas de Montebello and other places either from Tuxtla Gutierrez, San Cristobal de las Casas and Palenque.

Tour length varies but on average lasts all day, from 8 am to 7:30 pm.

In the lagoons there are facilities on offer including cabins, toilets, camping areas and guided tours of some areas near the park

How to get

It is located approximately 72 km from the city of Comitan, first take the federal highway No. 190 to the city of Trinitaria and from this place you continue along the Southern Border road to Lagunas de Montebello.

Comitán to the Lagunas de Montebello National Park has a duration of 1 hour by own car, public transport 1 hour 30 minutes.

Public Transportation: You can take the combis that go to lagoons of Montebello, in the 2nd south and 3 west next to the Telmex building. Cost: $ 1.5 usd
